The Worship Arts Ministry at Sandia Baptist Church is comprised of five teams: vocal, education, instrumental, drama/art and audio-visual. Each of these teams touches and affects worship at Sandia.Worship Arts has core values that are summed up in the acrostic “WORSHIP.”
Only God, who is the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, is worthy of worship. He is worthy of worship because of who He is and what He has done and will do because of His love for us. We will approach Him with reverence, awe and respect. We will have thanksgiving in our hearts and praise on our lips. We will be glad when we enter into the glory of His presence with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Jesus said, “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” Samuel reminded Saul, “to obey is better than sacrifice.” Therefore, we will seek to be obedient to God's commands in all areas of our lives, and sensitive to His Holy Spirit's leadership. “It is not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,” saith the Lord.
REACH AND EQUIP
We love because He first loved us. Therefore, we will reach out to others with the good news of the salvation available in and through Jesus Christ. We will help others to grow as disciples by equipping them to serve Christ and His church, alongside us. Our goal and desire is to see the nations worship Him.
We are committed to personal spiritual growth and to the spiritual growth of those we seek to lead in worship. We will seek to know God more fully through daily communion with Him in prayer, by the study of His word, and by allowing the Holy Spirit to do His work of sanctification. This journey will lead us into greater trust, love, obedience and intimacy with Him.
HUMILITY in Service
We will serve our Lord and the people of His church with humility. Our example is Christ Jesus, who, being the master, humbled Himself and washed the feet of His disciples. Our desire is not to be served, but to meet the needs of others. Therefore, we will exercise the spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit has given to each of us to build up the Lord's church.
We will conduct our spiritual, professional, and personal affairs with clean hands and a pure heart. We will seek to live so that our attitudes and actions bring only honor to Jesus Christ, His church, and our personal ministries as servant worship leaders.
We acknowledge that we must diligently seek God in our personal worship before we can be worship leaders. Before coming into His presence, we will seek His guidance and help, so that any thing that would stand in the way of our fellowship with Him and with others is removed from our lives.
